Manager Mike Comeau message: Bus trip December 17-18

Parents,

As you know, we play Saturday, December 17 vs Miramichi at Baie Ste-Anne at 5 p.m., then Sunday at 3:30 pm vs Acadian Peninsula at Lameque.

At Mike’s request, I’ve arranged for a bus and booked hotel rooms in Miramichi for December 17. We’ll finalize the itinerary later, but the version 1 of the itinerary is below. Short version: the bus leaves the Aitken Centre Saturday at noon, and ends the day at the Rodd Miramichi. We go Sunday to Lameque, and leave right after the game, with pizza on board.

The team budget will fund the bus and the pizza Sunday. Families will bear other costs directly.

Players and staff will travel on the bus. Family members are welcome. Space permitting, it’s your call. The Bus seats 47. 17 players and 5 staff means 25 seats are available. Please let me know how many seats your family would like. Obviously I can guarantee 1 parent seat per family. If demand exceeds supply, I’ll conduct a lottery.

We have a block of rooms under “Fredericton Bantam Caps” at the Rodd Miramichi for $109. Please call 1-800-565-7633 to claim yours before November 15. Note: I know some of you may be able to save a few dollars booking outside the block at a corporate or government rate. Please resist the temptation. We need to buy a minimum of ten rooms to get a complimentary one. If we don’t get that, we pay for the driver’s room.

If you’re coming on the bus, you should arrange for late check-in. The bus won’t get to the hotel until probably 8:30 p.m.

We’d like all the boys to stay in the hotel. If you prefer to stay with family in the area, or to skip the trip, please arrange to have your son room with another family – and please let me know.

If you look at the planned itinerary below, you’ll see I still need to figure out the logistics of getting the boys fed before and after the 5 p.m. game Saturday. I’m thinking they can bring a meal to eat on the bus. After the game, if we move quickly, we can get to Miramichi in time to have a pasta buffet at Pizza Delight. If you know of a place for a post-game team meal in Baie-Ste Anne, let me know. Actually, any advice/suggestions about eating after the game would be welcome.

Sunday meals: families can do breakfast on their own. I am thinking we’ll arrive in Shippagan for lunch at Subway before we move on to Lameque 15 minutes away. For supper, I’m planning we’ll call in a pizza order at Pizza Delight Shippagan, and have the driver stop long just enough to pick it up. Again, I’d appreciate any suggestions or advice.

What I need from you, please:
Let me know how many in your family would like to travel on the bus.
Book your room, or let me know with whom your son will be travelling.
Give me your advice on Saturday and Sunday meals.
