So, exactly “who” is in control of this on-ice product?
Head Coach Mike Gillingham
Head Coach Mike Gillingham spent two seasons behind the bench as an Assistant Coach with the Fredericton High School Black Kats Men’s Hockey team from 2000-2002. From there he took a break from coaching to finish his Business Administration degree at St Thomas University. He returned to coaching two seasons ago as an Assistant Coach with the Bantam AAA Canadiens in Fredericton. Mike has also coached in the Junior Tommies spring program. Personal tidbits
In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my wife Katie and my little boy Nolan. I also enjoy training at the gym as well as playing hockey, soccer, and cycling. I have a great passion for hockey and enjoy spending time at the rink, the home away from home.
Assistant Coach Mark Gorman
Assistant Coach Mark Gorman has an extensive hockey history, including having played for Head Coach Mike Gillingham. Mark works primarily with the Caps defensemen, but his wit is evident to all players and parents. Mark states that coaching is “my way to help kids better themselves not only in sport but in life as well”. Mark is a mechanical engineer with exp Global, specializing in design of HVAC, Plumbing, Fire Protection and Controls systems for commercial and institutional buildings.
Assistant Coach and Manager Mike Comeau
Assistant Coach and Manager Mike Comeau returns for a third year on the Fredericton Point Zero One Caps. This will be his sixth year involved in coaching and managing youth hockey. For all enquiries related to the Caps, email Mike. When Mike isn’t at a rink he’s likely enjoying spending time with his son, reading or traveling.
Assistant Coach Simon Bissonnette
Simon Bissonnette grew up in Fredericton and played minor hockey in the local hockey system. He is an alumnus of the Bantam AAA Caps, having been a member of the original Caps Bantam AAA team. After minor hockey Simon played for the Fredericton Midget AAA Canadiens and was drafted by the Lewiston Maineiacs of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. In 2008-09 Simon split his time between the Maineiacs and the Halifax Lions of the Maritime Hockey League. Over the following four seasons he played for the Amherst Ramblers, Woodstock Slammers, and the Metro Marauders. He played 185 games in the MHL, amassing an impressive total of 53 goals, 51 assists and 104 points, along with 375 penalty minutes. The Caps coaching staff was thrilled to find Simon returning to the city and welcomed him to the staff. His infectious enthusiasm for the game is evident every time he steps on the ice, and the Cap’s goalies can attest he has one of the hardest and most accurate shots you will find in hockey.
